Digital Edition 2020

Heiva of Montreal will be a 100 % digital event for the 2020 édition. All dancers from around the world are welcome to connect with the worlwide Ori Tahiti community. This year the competition is international as the Heiva of Montreal explores a new path. Dont’ miss out for this oppotunity ! Register now.

This is a choreographed solo competition. The participants will send the video of their performance at the same time they register. The rules and regulations have to be respected in the same way as if it was a live competition.

The video instructions must be followed. The video has to be done with a smartphone or tablet, mp4 HD 720 dpi. It can not be a selfie : Please hole your phone horizontal while filming doing the solo video.

The 2020 edition of Heiva of Montreal is international and open to all. We offer a digital Heiva. This year will be only soloist competition. The rules and regulations as to be followed as usual.

Each candidate will send the video of their performance, mp4, HD 720 dpi, Horizontal format, following the rules and regulations of Heiva digital 2020.

The Categories

"ENJOY" Category

This category is offered to dancer that are still beginners. However, the judges can re-qualify a soloist to the challenges category if felt necessary.

Even if you’re thinking that you’re not ready, but feel tempted, please do not hold back ! This category exists to encourage dancers to overcome their apprehensions.

"CHALLENGE" Category

This category is offered to experimented experienced dancers.

You can enter this category attend even if you already have won a prize in a competition and you feel not ready for championship category

"EXCELLENCE" Category
Americas Championship

This is the main category.

To participate, you must have been a winner in another competition. You must have won 1st, second or third place at Heiva of Montreal or in another competition anywhere else in the world. Please indicate witch competition upon entry. Dancers as to dance with a theme and make this theme understandable for all.

"TAHITIAN FUSION" Category

This category is unique to Heiva of Montreal.
The dancers are free to mix any dance techniques with Ori Tahiti, except belly dance steps. The purpose of this categoryis to highlight Tahitian dance techniques when it is associated with other dance techniques in the same choreography

"LOCKDOWN MEMORY" Category

During the quarantaine, man of you danced and showed your dance and showed your videos in quarantaine.
Dancers who choose this category must express in their dance what they felt during quarantaine. The choreography must include accessories and objects that are part of the housing universe: furniture, household appliances, toilet accessories, part of the house (windows, stairs), etc. ...
